Communicable Diseases - Malaria

National Control of Malaria Programme (NCMP)

The main areas affected by malaria are Sarpang, Samtse, Samdrupjongkhar, Chhukha and Shemgang districts. Besides, the riverain valleys of Trashigang, Momgar, Trongsa, Tsirang, Dagana, Punakha, Wangdi, Pemagatshel and Thimphu have seasonal malaria transmission.

With the enhanced technical knowledge of peripheral workers there has been improvement both in quantity and quality of blood slide examination over the years. Although there is increase in the ABER and API, the PF% out of the total slide positive is showing a downward trend. This is an encouraging indication that the serious form of malaria is decreasing.
