Mental Health was launched in 1997.
The 8th Five Year Plan (1997-2002) has identified Mental
Health as priority area for development in the health sector and was launched
in 1997 with the objective to:
1. Sensitize
health personnel at all levels to be able to provide mental health care along
with general health services.
2. Reduce
problems related to alcohol, drug dependence and mental and neurological
disorders.
