Alternative Medicine – 9 Five Year Plan

In order to improve the quality of traditional medical services, the following activities are planned during the ninth plan period:

1.      Developing capacity through human resource development in terms of long term and short tern trainings of the staff in different areas

2.      Conducting scientific research in relevant areas

3.      Develop certain common products

4.      To initiate commercialization and privatization of the production component of the Pharmaceutical and Research Unit

5.      Constructing appropriate infrastructure as required

6.      Strengthen therapy unit of the NIH by providing more facilities

7.      Consolidate and improve the existing services

8.      Improving intra and inter-sectoral coordination through regular meetings

9.      Adding new products as required

10.   Strengthen marketing of the products

11.   Strengthening coordination with modern health care system

The ITMS solicits active support and cooperation of all relevant agencies particularly the Department of Health Services and the Ministry of Health and Education while carrying out the above activities.
